Any Black women out there with natural hair who can give me suggestions?

I need help! I've had the same hair style for almost 3 years!!! I am tired of it but don't know what else to do! I'm mixed and my hair is very curly, shoulder length, and thick. I am a Cafe manager so I wear a hat everyday being around food. So i just pull it back in a pony tail and the hair in front that strays I pin down with bobby pins. (Sad I know) Others love the curls but I feel like I'm dealing with a monster. My problem is I dont want to straighten it but also am tired of the pony tail. How can I get more manageable curls without chemicals! sigh...

just take care of it and don't keep combing it because your pulling it out and also use grease on your scalp

I am mixed too ! Also dealing with similar type hair. My hair is mid back lenght and dry !

Here some things I do to get better texture.

* I wash and condition my hair at night . I comb out all the tangles and make several chunky braids whilst the hair is still damp!

I sleep with the braids in the morning I take them out and FINGER COMB my hair NO COMBS OR BRUSHES !

This makes nice soft shiny waves. Use a little gel to paste down any frizzes but not to much !

* I also buy "WET LOOK" hair gel.... You know how good and slick your hair looks when you first get out of the shower you can keep that look all day with "wet look" gel !

Try these brands Gainer Fruitis Wet Look gel. Use that gel after the shower and your hair will look super shiny and nice all day ! I also use their "full control" hair spray to finish the look.

Another brand of "wet look" gel is LA LOOKS BRAND ... Works nice too .. . Good Luck !
