I was considering going to a white hair salon my friend says she's in and out in 45mins to an hour, which is my main reason to go. I am not interested in perming my hair but to wear a cute very short but feminine style. I have very thin curly hair, and they always struggle with it when I go to a black hairstylist. please help

I have gone to both black and white hairstylists. I've been to (2) white stylists, and neither was qualified to do my hair. They "assumed" the products they used on their regular clients would work. I learned that you have to ask their qualifications and if they have had the necessary training to style, perm, cut, and otherwise maintain African American hair. Some do, some don't. I have since met a white hairstylist who can do my hair like nobody's business! She's great! BUT she trained and has had experience.
I think the people who said it was racist, did not fully understand the question. Yes, ANYBODY can "cut" hair, but not EVERYBODY can maintain just anybody's hair.

We are all EQUAL there fore we can all do the same things. now to further answer your question, African Americans have tougher hair that is harder to work with then white hair, if a white hairdresser had enough black clients i do not see why he or she would not be able to do a black persons hair

I think hairstylists get training and practice on all types of hair in school, but I would ask the stylist if she is comfortable doing your hair, because you already know it has a different texture that Caucasian people's hair.
